I love, love, love the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. You can do so much with it: lifecycle of a butterfly, days of the weeks, counting, colors, healthy eating, the list goes on and on. My grandmother helped me make this really cool felt set to go along with the book, many moons ago and the kids love it. Such sweet memories were made at her kitchen table that day!
The kids each have their stack of food that the caterpillar is going to eat.
And he starts eating,
and eating,
and eating and of course he gets a tummy ache.
The nest day he has just one green leaf and builds his chrysalis around himself,
and turns into a beautiful (sparkly purple!) butterfly!
We also graphed the food items he ate and discussed it.
Love being with my little one's and watching their little minds grow!
