January in the Wolf Den

We had a very busy month waiting on our new little arrival!  Lot's of family time and visit's from G.G. and many projects around the house trying to get it organized and things ready for the baby.

You know you have messed as a parent when you have pictures to prove it.  I can't believe that we allowed Ethan Jay's hair to get this long.  I didn't realize how bad it was until he had a haircut and then we looked back and saw these pictures.  Haircuts, doctors, dentists and washing his hair all became tramatic experiences for him this summer.  He had never had problems with them before but all of a sudden they became quite the experience and I refused to take him in for another haircut after our last experience in November.  So Robert thankfully took him and told me that he never wanted to do that again!

Trying out the new camera in the car.  Emma Ann seems to be doing well!

Ethan Jay is set with his headphones and a snack.

Waiting paitiently for our new little one.  I never realize how big I have gotten until I see a picture of myself.  Then I say "Holy Cow!"  Literally, big as a cow!

Getting the swing ready for the baby and the little one's helping us try it out!  Notice Ethan Jay's haircut!

Everytime I turn around Emma Ann has gotten a cucumber out of the refridgerator and is sitting in her favorite chair chewing on it.  Either she really likes cucumbers or she is getting some new teeth in!

We have been making homemade bread in our bread machine and this loaf did not turn out so we decided to give it to Brody.  He devoured it like a vulture.  It was literally gone in just a few minutes!

Emma Ann trying on her brother's boots.

Yep, She likes them!

My Aunt Joann and cousin, Vicki came up for a visit and wer helping me untangle this mobile that had been tangled up in the move.  It was quite a task but we got it done with the help of Momma's head light to help us see!

Emma Ann trying out another pair of her brother's shoes.

Yep, these are good too!

Tea party for two!

Cup stacking at it's best!

Where's brother?

 There he is!

Feeding our new fish.

"Me too!" says Emma Ann

Evie Kaye ~ 1 week old

I can't believe that my baby girl is one week old.  It seems as if she has been with us and part of our family for forever.  She is such a sweet little light in our family and we feel so blessed that we are entrusted with such a sweet little bundle.

Robert's Birthday!

We had such a fun evening celebrating Robert's birthday and the blessing that he is to our family.  We started at our local  mexican restaurant where we had a great meal and then headed home for a little celebration.  It was a great evening spending time with family.

Our Growing Family

It's hard to believe that so much has changed and happened in just the few short years that we have been married.  We are so grateful for all of our blessings and for each of these children and the joy that they bring to our lives and to our family!

To see the love that Ethan Jay and Emma Ann have for their new baby sister is a true testament to God and the love that He displays for us and that runs deep and true within each of us, as we are made in His likeness.

Coming Home!

We were so excited to be bringing our new little one home and to be able to see Emma Ann and Ethan Jay.  This Momma is very rarely away from her little one's so the one visit in the hospital was not enough and I was eager to get home and see them!  Ethan Jay and Emma Ann were excited to see us too. Okay, they were mostly excited about seeing new baby sister!  G.G. helped them make a beautiful welcome home sign and hung it outside with some balloons!  So cute and sweet!

She said that flat is boring!  Wrinkles are IN!

When I saw this picture, it really hit me.  There really are 3 of them.  Wow!

Brody checking things out.

So glad to be home surrounded by my family and my Mom!  Can't get better than this!

Emma Ann ~ 15 months old

Momma had mentioned to me that maybe I would deliver Evie Kaye on the 22nd because that would be the same day of the month as Emma Ann and that would be like Lacie and I (both the 8th of the month).  So sure enough Evie Kaye made her way into the world on Emma Ann's 15 month old birthday.  That's right they are exactly 15 months apart!  They are going to be the best of friends!  Sharing a room, clothes, staying up late talking about all the things girls talk about!  How sweet it is going to be!  Emma Ann could not be more excited about being a big sister!  Look at her reliving her experience in the bassinet!

Welcoming Evie Kaye Wolf

9:18 am
8 lbs. 2 oz., 19 3/4 inches long

So the day finally arrived! We had all been anticipating this for some time, especially me who had been having early labor off and on for weeks. So Sunday morning when Ethan Jay woke us up around 4:45 to go to the bathroom, my contractions began. I had a few while we were up and they were strong enough to know that these were it. I however did not want to tell Robert yet and get excited and it not really be it. So I took my cell phone to bed and timed them for a few minutes. They were about 5-6 minutes apart and after awhile I asked Robert to go run me a bath. He of course was a little perplexed as to why I would need a bath at 5:15 am. So after filling him in I got in the tub and labored until about 7 am. Luckily my Mom was here for the weekend and was able to stay with Ethan Jay and Emma Ann as we headed to the hospital. We had also called my Aunt JoAnn around 6:15 who lives about 2 hours away to come as well. So we arrive at the hospital and the baby was monitored for a few minutes and I was checked out in Triage. I was told that I was only 3-4 centimeters dilated which was a bit shocking to me seeing that I was 3 centimeters a week prior. The nurse told me to go walk for a few hours and see how that helped me progress and then they would check me again to see if they would admit me. So in my usual composed laboring fashion, I informed her that we would be having a baby well before then, okay! So she sent us on our way and with in about 20 minutes we were back at her desk to let her know it was definitely time to be admitted. So she checked me again and said that I was now 7 centimeters and we got up and walked down the hall to Labor and Delivery. I had one contraction in the room before I even got into the bed and informed everyone that it was indeed time to have the baby. So I got up into bed was checked again and was 9+ centimeters with just a little rim of cervix left and we started pushing. Meanwhile the doctors and nurses are trying to start an IV and have Robert fill out paperwork, so I yet again have to use my nicest laboring mommy voice and let them know that that could all be done at a later time. So about that time it is announced that the "patients mother" is outside the door. So my Mom came in and after a few pushes little Evie Kaye had made her arrival! What a special blessing and treat to have my Mom their to experience that with Robert and I. I must say this labor was a little more difficult and longer than with Emma Ann's but as all mothers know, so very well worth it!

It must be one very special moment for me to share these pictures with everyone. I look terrible! But that little bundle brightens up the picture for sure!

She kept pulling her hat down over her face, repeatedly! Hilarious!

All snug as a bug! So very cute!

It was so sweet to see Ethan Jay and Emma Ann with the new baby. They were so very excited and couldn't get enough of her!

Getting ready to come home from the hospital! She is wearing the same outfit that Emma Ann wore home. My Momma smocked the dress, bonnet and booties.

Another picture of me looking lovely! Somehow I forgot to pack shampoo and conditioner and the one that the hospital provided was hand soap, body wash and shampoo in one. It reeked havoc on my hair and was an extremely hot mess! So glad to be taking our little one home! Looks like she's ready too with her tongue stuck out again!
