We have had a wonderful time getting settled in a getting to know the town of Exeter that we are going to be in for two weeks. It is so beautiful and of course soooo different than what we are used to. I am just trying to soak it all up!

This is part of the river that runs through Exeter. It is called The Quay, pronouced "key." There are beautiful swans that swim in it and lot's of shops and restaurants all along it. The kids and I spent some time here yesterday feeding the swans on the way home from the grocery store (nothing like feeding swans fresh bread that you just bought from the store!) but they have somehow vanished. Anyways, we walked down this evening for some dinner and it was oh so beautiful all lite up!
The restaurant was great. Funny though, in the states, we would have been sat in the fancy restaurant with ugly stares from the guests around us as our children are being a bit unruly because it is WAY past their dinner time and also past their bedtime and still not quite adjusted to the time difference. Not here though. We were politely but bluntly told that the bar table area might be a better place for us! Hey, it definitely did not bother me. The same menu, a more laid back atmosphere and nothing for my little ones to break on the tables, AND no one staring at us when we got a little loud. Besides there was only one other table in the bar area and they were finishing up as we sat down. Great idea!
