Ice Cream and Dandelions

We went up to the Downs to enjoy the sunny weather and have some ice-cream!  Good times for sure!

Then we went on a walk found lot's of dandelions.  We watched the cutest videos on You Tube about the lifecycle of a dandelion and then found each stage while we were out on a walk.

Emma Ann loved blowing the tops off, but Evie Kaye decided it was too much work and found out that shaking them would do the trick!

Oh, how I love my sweet girls!

And marching back up the hill towards home.
Notice Ethan Jay's bundle of grass.  He brought it home to make a birds nest out of!

When we got home, they drew the different stages of a dandelion in their science journal.  Emma Ann's was quite good, especially for being three, but I have to say, Ethan Jay's was amazing!  The details in each stage that he drew were so descriptive.

Then we made some dandelion tea!

Pick the flowers and put them into your mug.

Pour some warm water on them and let them steep.  When they are done, strain off the flowers and add some honey.

Evie Kaye approves!

Emma Ann, not so much!
It was definitely worth a try, but this tea leaves much to be desired.  It was just very mild.   But an interesting project.  We almost picked some dandelion greens to try for dinner but we will save that till next time.
