London ~ Day 2

Another long but adventurous day in London started out with a Thames River Cruise.  We had wanted to sit up top on the boat, but it was very cold and windy especially on the water so my husband relinquished and we sat inside!  

We had some amazing views up and down the river.

London Bridge is falling down!

Just kidding, but I found the neatest children's book by Peter Spier that we have been studying about the history of the London Bridge.  

Keeping little one's entertained on a 2 1/2 hour boat ride!

If you look you can see the "Leaning Tower of Pizza" in the back.  I believe it is where the mayor works.

We took the boat down to Greewich for the day and we wished we had alotted more time there.  It was so beautiful and so much to see.  We definitely would like to come back and spend a few days there.

Up to the Discovery Center which had so many neat things about the town and great projects and exhibits for the kids and bathrooms!

Over to Greenwich Market

We choose dishes from several different vendors and had the best lunch.

Chinese Beef Stew over rice, amazing!

We also had some yummy chow mien, which you can see remnants of in the corner of the picture.

Robert had a Carribean Chicken Wrap which he said was delicious!

And a truly scrumptious dessert of mini pancakes, nutella and strawberries!

There weren't any tables available.  So we just sat on the side of the market on the dirtiest floor that I have ever sat on.  But good food and sitting down did this Momma good!

Over to the National Maritime Musuem, which we didn't even get to go in to because we were running out of time and were afraid we would miss our boat back.  It looked really neat though and is at the top of the list for our next trip.

Around the back of the museum is the Prime Meridian and divides the Hemispheres.  Well just at the top of that hill just to the left of Evie Kaye's head (if your looking at her) is the spot.  Timing and this Momma's hips would sadly not let us walk up there but a quick picture and the promise of a trip back will do for now!

And back on the boat for our trip back up to London.

Shakespeare's Theatre

Yet another stop that we would have loved to make but there is always next time.

These lions were all along the Thames River and it is said that Londoner's keep an eye on them and if the water in the river reaches the lions mouth then they know that they are in trouble!

We were pressed for time to make it over to our entrance time at the National History Museum so we took a taxi over.  The kids LOVED the ride.

Evie Kaye decided to sit and get some buckles on.  It was only slightly a wild ride!

Emma Ann giggled like this for the whole ride!

And over to the National History Museum.

When Ethan Jay heard we were going to the "big city," he begged to go to the museum to see the dinosaurs!  So this teaching Momma couldn't resist and we squeezed in a trip to the National History Museum.

We were all in awe of the huge dinosaur exhibits!

Emma Ann sure did scare this bear!

This whale was massive.  Not even half of it is pictured here.

We decided to take the underground subway home.  It was a first for us all and we were super excited.    It was amazing because everyone else seemed to know just what to do and bustled by us but we soon figured it out and got our tickets and got on the right train.

I just love this.  I desperately wanted to take the kids to Paddington Station but there is just so much to see and I already have a long list of places to visit on our next trip!
