4th of July

By the way, in Britian, they do not celebrate the 4th of July or Thanksgiving or Presidents Day (what's up with that?).  I know right, the biggest BBQ celebration day of the year!  In fact everyone got up and went to work that day, including my husband, as if it was just any other normal day!  So we all dressed in festive red, white and blue and had some yummy soft molasses cookies and festive berries after dinner to celebrate!

But, on Saturday the 5th of July, boy did we have a celebration!  We invited our neighbors to the "Those Americans (that's what people call us here!) celebrating their independence from us and them (the Brits) getting rid of us" party!  It was a blast as almost all parties are with yummy food, good friends and good times!  We had good ole American fare with hotdogs with chili (something amazingly foreign to them!), chips, potato salad, watermelon, cookies and some delicious Mississippi Mud Cake that my neighbor Amber made.

We got some sand for the kids to play with.  It all started in the tub but by the end of the day it was practically all gone.  There was a little bit that we swept onto the grass, but it somehow all vanished!  Probably in-between toes and in their hair!

Our little Mascot!

Neighbors enjoying yummy food and a great view.

Momma and Robert enjoying the day.

Baby Zach going for the hotdog!

Ethan Jay and Sam had such a blast together today.

My friend Kris and Zach.

Cute Little Jayce even came decked out in red, white, and blue!

We had to have sparkers for the day.

And the big kid HAD to light 6 of them at one time!

And this was the closest thing I could find to fireworks!  A Roman candle (I think).  Ethan Jay wanted me to take a picture of him like this so it would look like he was holding it in his hand.  Didn't quite work out as planned!

We had a great day with the help of our friends helping us celebrate.  I'm just glad that we didn't get attacked by people!  Must have been the tranquilizing effect of the yummy food!
