I love putting up the Christmas Tree every year. The kids are so excited about it and I LOVE the sense of tradition! There's always bickering and fighting in our house, but putting up the tree is always calm and serene and just filled with such joy!

And the reason we scrapped our curriculum for a whole month, Truth in the Tinsel! This is a devotion that is developed by Amanda White and we did her devotion, Sense in the Resurrection at Easter as a family and loved it! It was a no brainer when I saw that she did a Christmas Devotion and Bible Study. We love the Christmas season, but we have consciously tried to give our children a truly magical Christmas wrapped completely in Him. It's so tough when you have practically the whole world running away from it and running to Santa and shopping and busyness instead. We have really tried to make very clear steps towards having a Christ filled holiday season. We have for several years had a birthday party for Baby Jesus on Christmas morning but we were thrilled last year when our church offered a Christmas morning service. What better way to spend our morning than worshipping and praising an Amazing and Almighty God with such immeasurable wisdom to send his precious son, Jesus to teach us and ultimately save us! So the opportunity to keep going with it and spend a whole month studying about the arrival of that sweet baby and what it has meant to us was a no brainer, we jumped at the chance! It was such an amazing experience where we all learned so much and grew closer together as a family.
The Devotional was centered around an Advent Calendar that started with a clue they drew out and brainstormed what we would be discussing that day.
This would lead into a discussion and then a Bible reading and then a song that correlated.
They also wrote a sentence and drew a picture that went along with each days lesson.
The girls colored a paper ornament and traced a word for each day.
And then we also made an ornament to go on our Charlie Brown tree for each day.
Of course we needed a Charlie Brown tree.
So we set off to the woods in search of the perfect one!
The kids had a blast

It's going to be one full tree when we are done. 25 ornaments x 3 kids = a lot of ornaments!
We can't leave our sweet friend Buddy the Elf out of the mix! He pops up from time to time, getting into mischief or leaving us presents! The kids are always so excited to see what he has been up to!
Nothing like a bubble bath in marshmallows!
I just want to know, does anyone else's kids go bananas over marshmallows? The kids practically worship them! They are good, but these kids go bonkers over them!
