Play Cafe

The kids love going to the play cafe and with as much as it rains here we go about once a week.  It's right by the library so we usually go by on Monday's right afterwards.  Mrs. Linda had bought us a year pass to the play cafe so we looked forward to taking her while she was in town.

This little monkey is really starting to enjoy playing at the play cafe.

At the top!

And down we go!

This little girl to a liking to Easton James and wanted to help him slide down the slide as well.

Mincemeat Pies

The British LOVE their mincemeat!  It is as much of a holiday tradition as christmas trees and christmas cards.  It is usually made sometime in November so that it can sit and marinate.  Then by Christmas you can make your lovely mince pies!  The mixture is diced apples, raisins, currants, sultanas, sugar, zest, lemon juice, nuts and a few other ingredients.  After it has had it's marinating time, you can make them into the little mini pies and it is standard and pretty much mandated that they have a little star on top!  Not really sure what they were supposed to taste like (seeing as I have never had one before!)  But they were pretty good.  Robert really enjoyed them and Evie Kaye thought they weren't bad but none of the other's liked them.

A little dusting of powdered sugar makes them look nice and taste nicer too!

Great Barton Bake Off

The British have a t.v. show called "The Great British Bake Off" and our church had their own, "The Great Barton Bake Off".  There were cakes and cupcakes for the children to decorate as we waited for the judges to do the judging!

The lovely cakes in the competition!

After the judging we got to eat all of the yummy cake!

And the kids decorated more cake!

What a fun evening with yummy cake!

Evie Kaye's Birthday Party

There is nothing more fun than celebrating a sweet little one by throwing a fun party!
Sweet Evie Kaye asked for a pink party and I was much obliged!

It didn't take much thinking to know that we had to include the book "Pinkalicious".  It is about a little girl who loves pink so much that she eats too many pink cupcakes and turns green!  The only thing to turn her back to normal again is to eat lot's of green things!  She decided that she liked herself just the way she was!
I then thought about the book "Little Pea" whom is a little pea who has to eat a steady "healthy" diet of candy every night for dinner and then he may have his dessert, spinach!
I started off the party by reading the first book and then we sang happy birthday and had a yummy spread of pink and green food!

All the yummy pink food:  strawberries, pink grapefruit, watermelon and strawberry jam sandwiches.  And a few pretzels to mix it up!

And the yummy green food:  pickles, green apples, green grapes, cantaloupe and cucumbers.

And then the delicious pink lemonade cupcakes!

My sweet birthday girl!

Little man enjoying a big pickle!

And we sent all the girls home with a little hair bow that I made and the boys all took home an outdoor  tic-tac-toe set from pop-sickle sticks, rocks and a piece of chalk for drawing the lines with.

What a fun celebration!

Grandma's visit

We have had a great visit with Grandma!  She has been a great buddy for games and a listener for eager little chatty one's!!!

We went on several beautiful walks and she threatened to beat us after each one for making her do it!

What they loved doing best, lounging!

And part of Mrs. Linda's Christmas present that I saved to give her until she came.
It is a quilt made out of Art's shirts.

I even sewed on a few that had pockets on them and this one had ink stains from his pens!

Otterton Mill

We headed over to Otterton Mill for lunch with Grandma.  It was so beautiful even though it was a very chilly out.  The kids love coming here and go down by the river and throw stones in.  I love going there because it is so beautiful and peaceful and the food is delicious!

These are the roads that we drive on around here!  About gave Mrs. Linda a heart-attack!  They do give you those little pull over spots if you meet another vehicle so that you have room to pass!

Then we stopped by Robert's work to show Mrs. Linda around.  It's such a pretty location right along the river.
